General preparations and installation:
- Install a server with the new platform software
- Make a copy of all old databases and setup a new SQL server with these database copies.
- Install the the old Search & Preview on the new installation server
- (you might user PowerShell for deployment of our wsp packages) - Attach the old copied database, from the new SQL server to the new Farm.
- Delete any Search & Preview Search centers
- When ready to upgrade the databases, uninstall Search & Preview Search and Preview totally
- > upgrade the databases and install the right Search & Preview edition for the right SharePoint platform - Re-create Search & Preview Search centers based on the new site template.
Migrate Search & Preview from SharePoint 2010 to 2013 |

General preparations and installation:

- Make a copy of all “SP2010” databases and setup a new SQL server with these database copies.
- Install the Search & Preview for “SP2010” on the new “SP2013” server
- (you might user PowerShell for deployment of our wsp packages) - Attach the copied “SP2010” database, from the new SQL server to the SP2013 Farm.
- Delete any Search & Preview Search centers
- When ready to upgrade the databases, uninstall Search & Preview Search and Preview totally
- > upgrade the databases and install Search & Preview Search & Preview for “SP2013”. - Re-create Search & Preview Search centers based on the new site template.
Migrate from SharePoint 2007 to 2010 |

There are two separate release lines of Search & Preview: one for SharePoint 2007 platform and one for SharePoint 2010 platform. Some of the visible changes between releases are different
versions of Search & Preview dll files and different look and feel of the user interface. Underneath, there are several major changes in the code to embrace the updated SharePoint platform.
For these reasons, when upgrading SharePoint, Search & Preview needs to be upgraded as well to the appropriate release line.
Depending on the situation you will be able to uninstall/overwrite the SP2007 version of Search & Preview BEFORE or AFTER you upgrade SharePoint to 2010.
If you CAN uninstall Search & Preview before upgrading SharePoint (in-place SharePoint upgrade):
1. Delete Search & Preview Search Centers using SharePoint standard options: Search Center > Site Actions > Site Settings > Delete this site.
2. Delete Search & PreviewStyles library at the site collection level: using SharePoint Designer or directly in SharePoint.
3. Restore default settings for search tabs at the site collection level: Site Actions > Site Settings > Search & Preview Search Tabs > Drop-down on a Search Tab > Restore Default Settings.
4. Uninstall Search & Preview using installer corresponding to the currently installed version of Search & Preview.
5. (Optional) Manually clean-up Search & Preview files still present in the system, e.g. dll files and XML configuration files.
6. Upgrade SharePoint to 2010.
7. Install the latest Search & Preview for SharePoint 2010. You can find the Search & Preview Suite installation package marked with “SP2010” on this support site.
8. Deactivate and activate Search & Preview features at both farm level and at the site collection level. Set your proper license as active. Activate Search & Preview Search Box if used.
9. Create Search & Preview Search Centers as needed.
If you CAN’T uninstall Search & Preview before upgrading SharePoint (database attach SharePoint upgrade):
1. Note the URLs of Search & Preview Search Centers to access the page options directly, to delete centers after the upgrade of SharePoint.
2. Upgrade SharePoint to 2010.
3. Delete Search & Preview Search Centers using SharePoint standard options: Search Center > Site Actions > Site Settings > Delete this site.
4. Delete Search & PreviewStyles library at the site collection level: using SharePoint Designer or directly in SharePoint.
5. (Optional) Manually clean-up Search & Preview files still present in the system, e.g. dll files and XML configuration files.
6. Install the latest Search & Preview for SharePoint 2010. You can find the Search & Preview Suite installation package marked with “SP2010” on this support site.
